Every child deserves a loving family and a home for his or her support and safety net from possible dangers and heartaches that a young person shouldn’t bear. Unfortunately, many children experience this sad reality of life, such as this 11-year-old girl who, along with her mom, was held captive in a caravan by the latter’s beau. The mother couldn’t leave the area or evenmake a phone call, though the girl was still allowed to go to school. This prompted her to plan their escape.
According to CNN’s report in 2016, the mother wrote a short but alarming message down on a piece of paper and told her daughter to hand it to her teacher when she got to school. After the young girl handed it to her teacher, she immediately called the authorities to rescue the woman.
Jeff Travis, East Feliciana Parish Sheriff, said:
“She couldn’t leave. She needed someone to get her out of the situation and she couldn’t talk on the phone.”
However, the police’s first attempt failed to save the mother as no one answered the door when they arrived at the place. The court then gave the authorities a warrant to finally capture the man, identified as Donald Ray Guy, they freed the woman and she was reunited with her daughter.
Police also reported that Guy hid in the closet, and had three outstanding warrants after the arrest for attempting to escape the scene.
