Just like any other celebrity in the showbiz industry, rising star Charlie Dizon also has her own fair share of setback before finally reaching the peak of stardom.
On her recent guest appearance on the Kapamilya morning show “Magandang Buhay”, the 21-year-old actress shared that before joining showbiz, she used to be a part of a K-Pop cover group which showcased her dancing prowess.

According to her, a classmate from the University of Santo Tomas introduced her to K-Pop and Korean dramas. Since then, she became fond of joining mall shows and competitions.
“Dun po feeling ko artista ako kasi may fans din yun pag nagaya mo yung idol nila matutuwa sila, so may fans ka.”
Moreover, she revealed that she was chosen to be a trainee for a company in Korea.
“Pinag novena ko po yun kasi gusto ko talaga na makarating sa Korea.”
She recounted that among the 1000 auditionees, she was the only one who was chosen to fly to Korea to be part of a K-pop group.
At first, she admitted that she kept her K-Pop journey from her parents because she knew beforehand that they will stop her from entering the entertainment industry because she’s still pursuing her nursing degree.

Nevertheless, when received the news that she passed the auditions, Charlie and her sisters finally revealed it to their parents. In hope of pursuing her dreams, Charlie stopped school and flew to Korea along with her parents. However, she encountered a problem with her papers when they got there. She narrated:
“Ang nangayari ay nagka-problema sa papers kasi conflict daw po na trainee ako tapos working ‘yung visa ko, parang ganun. So hindi na po natutuloy. Tapos siyempre na-announce na sa family and friends na hindi na ako magko-Korea, dito na ako. ‘Yun po ang pinaka-down moment ko po noon.”
Charlie shared she got frustrated with the missed opportunity— since she dreamt of being the first Filipina Kpop artist in history. Despite all the struggles and unsuccessful attempts, Charlie remained positive in life and tried her luck in the Philippine showbiz industry.
Today, she is now a certified Star Magic artist and is one of the casts of the Kapamilya primetime hit series “Bagani”. She plays the role of Marikit, a member of Isla ng Matutulis.
